FAQ

What is linkembed?

linkembed lets you create branded pages for your links. You can embed content (e.g. Google Docs, Dropbox files) so it loads on your URL, or create redirect links that send visitors to another site. You can organize links in folders and use your own domain so everything looks like you.

What’s the difference between an embed link and a redirect link?

An embed link shows the content (e.g. a document or file) directly on the linkembed page. A redirect link doesn’t show content—when someone clicks, they’re taken to another URL. Use redirect when the source doesn’t allow embedding (e.g. Notion) or when you just want a short, branded link to somewhere else.

Why does my embed show a blank screen?

Usually the source platform is blocking embedding or the sharing settings are too strict. Make sure the file or page is shared so “anyone with the link” can view it, and check our Limitations & platforms doc. For some services you need to use their embed code instead of a normal share URL. If nothing helps, use a redirect link to the content instead.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, on plans that support custom domains. You add a subdomain (e.g. links.yourdomain.com) in the dashboard, then add a CNAME record in your DNS pointing to the target we give you. After verification, your links can use that domain. See Custom Domains and Custom domain connectivity issues for details.

What’s a workspace?

A workspace is like a project or brand. All your links and folders belong to a workspace. The workspace has a “slug” that appears in your default URLs (e.g. myworkspace.linkembed.io). You can have multiple workspaces and switch between them in the dashboard.

Can I protect a link with a password?

Yes. When creating or editing a link, turn on password protection and set a password. Visitors will need to enter that password once to see the content (or to be redirected). Share both the link and the password with anyone who should have access.

What can I use as a slug?

Only letters, numbers, and dashes. No spaces or special characters. The slug must be unique within the same folder (or at the root). For example press-kit and Q1-2024 are valid.

Does linkembed support Notion (or other platforms)?

Notion does not allow its pages to be embedded on other sites, so embed links won’t work for Notion. Use a redirect link instead: paste the Notion URL as the redirect destination. Visitors will click your linkembed URL and then be taken to the Notion page. For other platforms, see Limitations & platforms.
