Core Features
Folders
Folders let you group links and give them a clear path in your URL. You can create top-level folders and nest folders inside others. Each folder has a name and a slug that appears in the URL.
Why use folders
- Organization — Keep links for different projects or topics in separate folders (e.g. “Press”, “Downloads”, “Payments”).
- Readable URLs — A link in a folder gets a path like
yourworkspace.linkembed.io/press-kit/album-art, so the URL itself is easy to understand and share. - Custom domain per folder — On plans that support it, you can attach a custom domain to a folder so all links in that folder (and its subfolders) use that domain.
Creating folders
In the Folders section of your workspace, create a folder and give it a name and slug. The slug is used in the URL and should use only letters, numbers, and dashes. You can optionally put the folder inside another folder (parent folder) to build a hierarchy. Slug uniqueness is per parent: two sibling folders can’t share the same slug, but a folder in “press” and a folder in “downloads” can both have a slug like “2024”.
Putting links in folders
When you create or edit a link, you can choose a folder. The link’s URL then includes the full folder path. For example, a link with slug terms in a folder with slug legal has the URL yourworkspace.linkembed.io/legal/terms. You can move a link to a different folder or “No folder” by editing the link.
Editing and deleting folders
You can rename a folder or change its slug from the Folders page. If you delete a folder, consider moving or deleting any links inside it first; behavior for links in deleted folders may depend on your setup. Folder slugs and structure only affect the URL path; they don’t change how the embedded or redirect content works.
